  2. In-Person Signing: Upon receiving an appointment confirmation, you are required to visit the High Commission in person, accompanied by the two designated witnesses, to execute the signing of the Power of Attorney.

Crucial Information Regarding "Meranaa" Insurance

Meranaa" services are designed to facilitate access to medical treatment for Maldivian citizens residing in Malaysia. Eligibility requires holding a valid Malaysian visa with validity period of at least six (6) months.

Upon receiving your long-term visa, we kindly request you to register on the "Meranaa" portal. Please be advised that reimbursement of medical claims shall be proceeded after date of the successful registration and official approval.

To ensure uninterrupted access to your coverage, it is essential to keep your valid visa details updated in the "Meranaa" portal.

Arrests

The High Commission has a role in offering consular assistance to Maldivians who are detained or arrested in Malaysia. However, as a foreign diplomatic mission, there are certain limitations to what we can do.

Foreigners in Malaysia are subject to local laws. Therefore, you should be aware of Malaysian laws and must abide by them at all times. Not knowing the local laws is not an excuse.

Hence, you should try to avoid situations which might put you at risk. However, if you are arrested, it is important to inform the High Commission immediately.

Avoid Visa Violation

Please ensure that you do not overstay or breach the terms of your visa during your stay in Malaysia. No matter the type of visa you hold, overstay or breach of visa terms may lead to heavy fines, refusal of further entry or even imprisonment.

 

In order to avoid unnecessary trouble at police checkpoints or getting detained during raids by law enforcement authorities, it is essential to be heedful of the following points:

 

  • Do obtain a document or a letter stating the status of your passport if the passport is in the possession of any institute or authority such as school, college, university, High Commission or Immigration.
  • Be aware of the expiration of your passport and visa, and take necessary action before the expiry.
  • When entering Malaysia, verify to ensure the entry stamp/chop has been placed on the passport and take notice of the number of days allowed for the stay.
  • Before leaving Malaysia upon completion of your studies, it is essential to shorten (cancel) your existing visa through the educational institute.
